DISCOVERY

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

UCIC AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IS CALLED DISCOVERY BECAUSE OF THE CHALLENGE WE PLACE BEFORE THE K-5TH GRADE STUDENTS WHO ATTEND.

Our goals are:

  1. To set before these students the truths of God through His word so they will know, see and experience Him in a real personal relationship,

  2. Help the students succeed to a greater extent through tutoring, homework helps, and challenging classes that are offered,

  3. Provide an avenue for active physical and mental rejuvenation through sports activities, games, and hands on projects.

SCHEDULE

When the children arrive after a day at school, they first get the opportunity to nourish their bodies with a healthy well-balanced snack.

After a snack, the children are usually ready to begin their homework. During this time they can receive help with their homework assignments. When finished they can play mental games to help them increase their overall content knowledge. Bible stories, crafts, and journaling gives kids a chance to relax and engage in some fun activities while enjoying time with their friends. Many spirited discussions occur during this time.

Outside and large motor time is how children fill out the rest of the day at UCIC, giving their bodies much needed fresh air and exercise.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

The learning activities are scheduled for periods of four to six weeks. Some are daily activities; others can be 2 or 3 days a week. After a four to six week session a number of the activities will change.
